Advert

As one of our ancillary tasks we have produced an advert to coincide with the digipak and music video for our product. We used one of the photos from a selection we took on location of filming, which enabled us to keep a consistency in the mise en scene in terms of costumes, location and props. We chose this particular image as we think it the most representative of the band, with the style of the band members and location, which we could adapt to look effective for our audience. This image incorporates a similar colour scheme as to what appears in the video, giving it that same vintage ‘indie’ look to fit in with our genre effectively. The location in particular we believe to be very effective and appeal to our target audience, as it is a very laid back scene, which will appeal to our young audience. As well as the location, the colours are very important in terms of being consistent with the video, as the colours are very washed out and have a yellow tint to the image, creating a retro effect, which is what we intentionally wanted to achieve. The black outline to the advert gives the effect of it being almost like a polaroid photo, making it appear more ‘old’ style which we are particularly pleased with, as it will draw the audiences attention to the main features of the advert, which are the band members themselves. This black outline also allowed us to put the wording in white on top in order to stand out more and so will attract our audience’s attention. We have been consistent with our font throughout both ancillary tasks, this is so the audience can identify this font and wording to the band and song, and therefore will be able to identify more easily with the main product.
